Ei mitään hätää
(Nothing to Worry About)
The exhibition ‘ei mitään hätää’ showcased the intricate relationship between the environment and plants. Through my art, I explored the concepts of time, its structure, and its significance in what we called the new era.
I focused on resilient plants thriving in unnatural habitats. As the stalks and leaves adapted to their surroundings, my paintings reflected our subjective need to control the environment. Continuing the floral theme from my earlier work, I observed nature and our own unnaturalness, even in abstraction.
Drawing inspiration from 17th-century vanitas still lifes, the plants in my exhibition reminded us of our mortality in a contemporary context. Unlike traditional nature morten, nature remained vibrant and persisted even at the brink of the sixth extinction. The most resilient continued beyond us.
